1 block firm tofu

Directions

Tear off tofu chunks and coat in cornflour and season with salt.

Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium heat. Fry the tofu until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain.

For the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, and cornflour. Set aside.

In the same pan you fried the tofu in, add the grated ginger, garlic, and chilli flakes, and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and stir continuously until it thickens, around 1–2 minutes.

Add the fried tofu to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the tofu evenly.

Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
