Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

Heat olive oil in a large oven safe pot or dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the ground italian sausage and ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

Add the onion in and cook until soft, 4–5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

Season with oregano, italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Pour in the marinara and 20 oz water. Stir until incorporated and bring to a simmer.

Add the ziti and make sure it’s pushed down into the liquid.

Cook for 8-12 minutes, stirring every few minutes so the ziti doesn’t stick together. Cook until the pasta is slightly less than al dente.

While the ziti is cooking, mix ricotta, parmesan, 2 tbsp basil, and 1 tbsp parsley in a medium sized bowl and set aside.

Turn off the heat.

Fold in the mozzarella pearls, and the rest of the basil and parsley.

Dollop the herbed ricotta over the top of the ziti and spread into an even layer using a greased spatula.

Top with mozzarella.
